Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski announced Friday that Ric Stryde will join the territorial cabinet and caucus team as the new chief of staff.

"Mr. Stryde comes to us with extensive experience in the political world, particularly in policy and northern issues. We are fortunate to have him join our team,” said Pasloski.

Raised in the Northwest Territories, Stryde has a broad range of experience with a number of federal ministers, including serving as senior northern advisor to Indian and Northern Affairs ministers Chuck Strahl and John Duncan.

"It has been our privilege to work with our current chief of staff, Rick Nielsen, whom I would like to thank for his service and for his support in this transition,” Pasloski added.

Nielsen will work with Stryde jointly for a short transition period this summer.

"It has been an honour and my utmost pleasure to serve our Premier and territory as chief of staff these past two and a half years,” said Nielsen. "I have so enjoyed the time I have spent with this administration, and I'm confident Mr. Stryde's experience and abilities will be an excellent addition to our team.”
