Three people are each facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking after Whitehorse RCMP made arrests on the weekend.

After conducting surveillance Friday night, RCMP arrested three people in two vehicles who seemed to be conducting suspicious activity. After a search of the vehicle, officers found two people in possession of one-tenth of gram crack cocaine, RCMP said in a statement Monday.

One of the trio was released without charges.

Whitehorse resident John Vijend Singh, 36, is facing a charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. His next court appearance is set for Thursday.

Dawn Lee Morgan, 34, also of Whitehorse, was released from custody and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 7 on charges related to a outstanding warrant . Further charges may also be pending, RCMP noted.

Then on Saturday around 10:39 p.m., RCMP arrested another two Whitehorse men after conducting surveillance again.

Officers noticed the pair also seemed suspicious and on a search found both had crack cocaine on them, RCMP said in a statement. Officers seized 7.2 grams.

Stacey Smarch, 22, and Christopher Ronald Swerhun, 33, both of Whitehorse, are each facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They are both in custody and scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
