Whitehorse RCMP are on the lookout for a potentially dangerous suspect.

Jason Richard Martin, 34, is wanted by police after being charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and unlawfully confining a person.

The charges stem out of an incident that occurred last Monday.

Today, Cpl. Tom Wyers would not comment on the specific circumstances of the case.

'The charges speak for themselves. They're very serious,' Wyers said in an interview.

The suspect is known to be aggressive, said the corporal.

Police are cautioning the public not to approach the accused man.

Martin is of first nations descent with brown eyes and long, black hair. He is six feet, three inches tall and weighs 225 lbs.

Anyone with information on Martin's whereabouts is asked to contact the RCMP at 667-5551 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Martin is still believed to be in the Whitehorse area.

'There have been some sightings, but we haven't been able to pin him down yet,' said Wyers.
