A Teslin businessman has been charged with counselling his one-time girlfriend to commit murder.

Norbert Kossler, the 47-year-old owner and manager of the Teslin Lake Motel, was arrested Tuesday by the Teslin RCMP.

He made his first appearance in the Whitehorse Law Courts Wednesday afternoon.

Kossler is scheduled to be back in court Friday.

Through a news release, Yukon RCMP are saying nothing more than they've charged Kossler with the offence. They cited the ongoing investigation by the Teslin detachment as well as the major crimes unit out of headquarters in Whitehorse.

According to the court documents, Kossler is charged with counselling Lenora Minet, 33, to commit murder.

No murder was carried out, the court documents say.

Though police aren't saying if the two are still a couple, Minet was Kossler's girlfriend at one time in the last couple of years.

Kossler is currently being held in custody at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre pending any release.

He was ordered yesterday to have no contact with Minet nor Helga Kossler, his wife.

Police won't say if the alleged intended victim was the accused's wife.

A routine publication ban on any evidence presented at the bail hearing has been ordered, though the release hearing has yet to occur.
