Ten city projects scheduled for tendering in May and June are expected to exceed $100,000, city council was told at its Apr. 19 meeting.

Under the city’s procurement policy, city administration is required to inform council every two months of future projects with an anticipated cost exceeding $100,000.

The administrative report provided to council says managers were asked to review their capital projects and operating requirements and provide information on their anticipated procurements.

While the list does not specify a refined estimate for each project, it does indicate whether the project is expected to be above or below $500,000. The list:

• Consulting services for the engineering detailed design of the full reconstruction of Wood and Steele streets – below $500,000;

• Construction services for the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard and Falcon Drive South – above $500,000;

• Construction services for the construction of a parking lot on the west shore of Schwatka Lake next to the Miles Canyon Road and extension of the existing boat ramp – below $500,000;

• Engineering services for the design, permitting, and construction inspection associated with improvements to the Copper Haul Road – below $500,000;

• Removing settled solids and soil from the bottom of Pot Hole Lake, upgrading a portion of the Pot Hole Lake access road and installing a lake level logger – below $500,000;

• The development of the repair specifications and the upgrade work of the Porter Creek flush line at valve chamber number one – above $500,000;

• Consulting services for an engineering assessment of existing electrical connections at the Marwell Lift Station and development of specifications for the tender of two new back-up diesel engines;

• Retaining a consultant to perform basic and detailed design for upgrading the Selkirk Pumphouse – above $500,000;

• Replacing the existing sittler screener compost trommel at the compost facility – below $500,000; and

• Removing damaged insulation from the compost processing facility and replacing it with a polyurethane spray foam – below $500,000.

Woohoo! Party on our dime! Amazing punch bowl spiked with our cash they are intoxicated on. Didn't earn it, don't know where it came from, don't know how to spend it. Would be less concerning if they were not simply creating false money for these spending lists they pretend to call budgets. You guys have spent even the children's tax dollars now, that's why prices are going up. You spent the last decades worth of funds in less then two years. Now Tiff Macklem is going to raise rates on all your debt. At least he is pretending to have the big brass ones to do it.

More than $500,000 to design a lift station upgrade - to just design it. Wow, maybe the city should have an engineer, or two or three or ...... on staff to avoid contracting out the design of a lift station renovation.
