Ta’an Kwäch’än chief chosen

Kristina Kane is out as the longtime chief of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.

Kristina Kane is out as the longtime chief of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.

In Monday’s election, members chose Amanda Leas as the new chief.

She was elected with 77 votes, from a total of 195 ballots cast, the council reported.

Kane finished second, while deputy chief Christina Peters came in third and councillor Doris Anderson placed fourth.

Kane had served three terms as chief beginning in 2012.
