Multiple shots were fired at a residence in the Lobird neighbourhood early Wednesday morning.

Whitehorse RCMP are searching for two male suspects, who were reported to have been wearing dark clothing and ski masks.

Police responded to a call around 5 a.m., they said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

When they arrived at the residence, they found two people had been sprayed with bear spray.

Both victims were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital and treated.

Police dog services searched the area, along with Whitehorse officers, but did not locate the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP at 667-5555.

Hey June, as I have told you before. Politicians make the laws, judges enforce them and we elect the politicians. Don't blame anyone but yourself and other electors for electing politicians that make laws lawyers can get around. After all, lawyers are supposed to give the most vigorous defense they can for their clients. It's part of the lawyer mandate, if they don't they can get in trouble. If you want better laws elect better politicians. After all their time in power the Yukon Party and the Conservative has done nothing to change laws to punish criminals but people keep electing them. Go figure.

Josey Wales,
Your definitely frustrated. I too have been the victim of random violence, impaired drivers. I almost lost a child in the accident. If it was not for my own driving it would have hit the door with my baby in the car seat right behind it.

I understand the frustration. My point is we need a functioning programming. Blaming the Mayor? Seems a little ridiculous. The RCMP, yes they could use some common sense and training.

As far as the pigment of your skin, well that says a lot. The dealers that bring the drugs here would be pigment impaired as well I guess.
Assigning blame without solution is redundant. Your frustration is warranted, but let's not turn this into a race issue.

Common sense tells me the Mayor is positioned in such a way that the YG only has another reason to drag their feet and blink at the issue like a deer in the headlights.
We can argue behind our keyboards or really try to effect change. Hitting people or getting in their faces = violence. Just Saying.

When you see how easy the courts are on crime in the Yukon, 2 years or less for murder, nothing for child porn or child assault, Community Wellness program which puts criminals back on the street almost immediately AND gives them a place to eat and sleep after a hard days criminalling..(yeah, I know it's not a word) lack of a timely appropriate program for anyone who does want help, (there is a huge difference between lip service to get into CW and actually wanting help.) General tolerance of 'easy' crime in the Territory, soft drugs accepted, hit and runs ok, just leave the scene and you're good to go..shoplifting at an all time high. (my source for that is a big box employee who told me that stealing is so bad they have hired security.)

So... why is anyone surprised at the influx of outsiders here who can do business with impunity? And they bring their guns with them...locals are reluctant to shoot their neighbors, people they went to school with, people whose families picnic together..outsiders have no such inhibitions. On the other hand.. there really are so few locals left... Locals do the b and e and outsiders u-haul the goods to Alberta or BC for sale... There is no solution. As long as there is a market for anything, someone will be there to provide service.

The RCMP can't protect anyone. Josie totally has the right of it.

Rose...pleased to make your virtual acquaintance. I know he rules not the police, he represents this sty and he and his merry men/women seem blind to it. Maybe they should put less focus on spending money on art, telling us to save our cans and turn our homes into mini Raven Recycling depo, and blinging the absolute s**t outta every expenditure for themselves...and more on actual public safety in this soon to be more so...wee Regina.
Hey Rose you wanna know something? Can you tell I am fed up with the bulls**t in town? Capitulation is not in my genes, actually that is not true...I do have some French in me...but more proud of my Scot side tenacity wise. I stroll all over town keeping serious trouble alert, alert by my being present and in their face. Many feel I am a complete fool, perhaps? Call me crazy Rose but I have this notion that everyone residing here deserves to be able to walk around without getting hassled by drunken idiots, beggars and clearly violent people...nuts hey? Currently for the last decade or so been doing this mostly solo. But I hear nothing stays the same, and to that I feel my habits may change. Heed this public forum, city, M and all those that may share my ideals... Giving very very serious thought as to forming a posse of vetted non felons with excellent empty hand skills that are not thugs, but peacekeepers. An in your face crew for all those folks who feel we are here to extort, beat, stab, intimidate good folks with actual violence and merely use us for their own entertainment... That for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...hence the crew. Rose this is a long un yup...to you, but everyone out there please be patient as I'm not done. Trauma seems to be a great excuse for acting feral in our courts up here. I personally have experienced much of it, including murdered family and friends, have had huuuuge amounts of violence presented to me. Funny thing though? I am pigment challenged so I am to act within societies laws...and do...and will as I know right from wrong. About that right I have to protect my life, those around me from violent feral humans.
And gee so so many in the machine here thought I was done washed up. Oddly enough I "feel" as I'm just getting started.
To the dozen drunk enough idiots I ran off last night on the MT...you gotta a taste of Josey...moderator sans...I have an endless supply just for folks as you. Good damn thing ya'll listened to the lady and shelved the violence.
Purely defensive of course, I hit back.
Two years playing video games for beating Brandy to death?
Suggests one must hit hard regardless of age gender and yes of course race...as the optics suggest we are very much on our own.
And to discriminate is bad...so I do not.

I was not aware that the Mayor is in charge of policing. Is he responsible for addiction treatment or lack there of? I don't think so.

Treatment in the Yukon seems only for the functional addicts. Let's not even talk about the 4 months to a year just to get into treatment. I think there is a misunderstanding of what layer of government is responsible. It's ok, I'm sure the Yukon Party will show up with a chunk of cash and a photo opp any time now.

The Yukon Government has covered up these issues with bandaid solutions that clearly are not working. But hey, a new building and a few more staff to run a program that is impossible for addict to even get into, sure, why not!

There are city's with millions of people who are able to offer effective treatment programs, transitional housing and effective transitional programming.

I have an idea, sole source it to a Yukon Party Executive family member! I don't care how, but our community needs functioning programs because our streets are becoming unsafe! There are only Tax payers if people want to live here!

Thought I just heard what a nice community Lobird was.
Think we have to see what really took place before passing judgement on the people who used bear spray and fired a few rounds.

More gunfire, awesome.
Was not aware that I moved to Regina.
Hope no one shoots at me...and so do they.
Seems not if but when in this sty, but yes let us focus on a real important issue like recycling.
Hey King Dan...your city...seems to be a violent s**thole...proud are you?
Maybe we should cease all special interest spending and hire some mercenaries to keep the peace, M seems very preoccupied with something...not sure what...but clearly something other than our decaying community has their attention.
I suppose when good folks start shooting back, perhaps that will get your four cars on shift outta Starbucks...

Patently obvious that this was drug related, and the victims know who the perps are.... but silence is golden in those circles, even though they could have been killed.
