Dawson City RCMP are seeking public assistance to find a man wanted for questioning with regard to a complaint of an attempted abduction from the local school yard last week.

Sgt. Dan Gaudet said this morning from Dawson the composite drawing of the man is being circulated to help police locate the man and question him with regard to a complaint from the mother of a 13-year-old girl.

The police are investigating a complaint that a man of about 35 years of age approached the teenager while she was on the swing at about 3 p.m. last Wednesday.

'After a brief discussion, the male grabbed the girl by the waist and tried to remove her from a swing,' says a press release issued this morning by Gaudet.

'The girl resisted and the male left the area in a vehicle.'

The Caucasian man is described as a lean six feet, two inches in height, with brownish-red spiked hair, a small nose and blue eyes, and wearing a sweater with horizontal stripes.

The vehicle is described as a new Ford station wagon, dark blue in colour, which was occupied by two additional adults: one a heavy set male in his 50s and the other a 50- to 60-year-old female with short grey hair.

Gaudet said the 13-year-old was in the school yard with fellow students and some adults shortly before school ended for the day when the incident is reported to have occurred.

One woman was taken into custody and questioned last Thursday, though it was determined she was not connected with the incident.

Gaudet said while this appears to be a one-time incident, parents should remain aware of the importance of ensuring their children know how to respond to threatening situations.
