Whitehorse RCMP asked that students at Holy Family Elementary School stay inside at lunch hour on Wednesday.

Local police officers were responding to a domestic call in the area of the Wann Road school and knew there were firearms in the house, Sgt. John Sutherland said today.

Keeping the children of the kindergarten-to-Grade 7 school indoors was 'purely a precautionary measure,' he said.

The man left the house of his own free will without incident with police.

School principal Sue Harding said today the only difference from a normal day was that students had an indoor recess over their lunch break.
