Silver needs to explain tactics: YP
Yukon Liberal Leader Sandy Silver needs to explain “the unethical conduct” of one his candidates, the Yukon Party said Monday.
Yukon Liberal Leader Sandy Silver needs to explain “the unethical conduct” of one his candidates, the Yukon Party said Monday.
Elections Yukon began investigating Liberal candidate Tamara Goeppel’s handling of proxy votes for homeless citizens in Whitehorse Centre.
Elections Yukon said Monday evening the matter has been turned over to the RCMP.
“Liberal Leader Sandy Silver needs to explain these questionable tactics, state which side of his divided team has his support, and clarify if other members of the Liberal team are participating in these tactics,” said the Yukon Party.
The party was referring to media statements last week by Goeppel and Laura Cabott, the chair of the Liberal campaign.
“Liberal Leader Sandy Silver is faced with a decision to either support his campaign chair and disavow the unethical tactics being used, or continue to support his star candidate’s use of these tactics and her public criticisms of Elections Yukon,” said Currie Dixon, an outgoing cabinet minister and the Yukon Party’s campaign chair.

I have to honour the Peel plan and cannot comment on it until after the election (ie the previous one).

Mr. Dixon may find himself in a possible conflict of interest situation on this matter.

I can't believe in this day and age of hard times, where families with young children and babies on single incomes, having to deal with massive child care bills, have to sit back and watch Currie Dixon get paid his huge MLA Cabinet Minister salary with mega benefits to run a campaign, not anything to do with the public interest or advancing public health or trust in anyway, but paid monster dollars to get his friends re-elected. SICK.

There are two possibilites:
1) Tamara didn't educate herself on the process and screwed up
2) Tamara intentionally and maliciously exploited proxy votes
Why would you want to elect this person in either scenario?

Are you kidding me? The Con Party - pot calling the kettle black? The cons support drunk driving MLA's …they don't support or accept First Nations input on political issues and their party is comprised of white males in blue suits--time to start outlining what the CONS have done, and leave this one alone.

Free Tamara! She was only trying to get the vote out. An honest mistake easily made by anyone not familiar with the system. We're not all lawyers thank goodness.

Conservative party campaign chair Currie Dixon is faced with a decision to either support MLA Darrell Pasloski and disavow the use of the conservative party's alledged dubious and unethical voting tactics in Pasloski's former riding or continue to support these tactics.
