Dr. Catherine Elliott, the Yukon’s acting chief medical officer of health, is reporting seven confirmed new cases of COVID-19 from noon last Friday through noon Monday.
The short statement released by the Yukon government does not indicate if any of the cases are of the Delta variant, which arrived in the territory earlier this month.
The number of active cases is currently at 41.
One of the seven cases is in Whitehorse. Six cases are in rural Yukon.
Since June 1, 635 people have recovered and six people have died.
A total of eight Yukoners have died from COVID-19 since November 2020. None of the people who have died in the Yukon were fully vaccinated.
“The office of the chief medical officer of health continues to monitor daily activity, and as active cases and daily case counts have stabilized, information bulletins will be issued on Monday, Wednesday and Friday,” the statement said.
“The number of cases will continue to be updated Monday through Friday online.”

Vaccines for respiratory infections are meant to prevent spread and serious inflammation, not to eradicate. See www.lung.org for information about vaccines and respiratory infections (whooping cough, tuberculosis for example). And Covid-19

80 percent of Yukon residents are fully vaccinated with last year's vaccine. The vaccine was developed when there was no delta variant. There has never been a respiratory virus that has been eradicated from human existence by a vaccine ie. common cold or flu. Dr. Catherine Elliot, Sandy Silver et all, please name a respiratory virus that has been banished from human existence by a vaccine. Give us hope. Thank you.
