F.H. Collins Secondary School is closed today after students and staff were removed Friday afternoon because of a small fire in the computer lab.
The Department of Education said the school is closed “as a precaution” today, with air quality tests scheduled for the past weekend.
“We will only reopen the school when we confirm it is safe for students and staff,” department spokesperson Kyle Nightingale wrote Friday.
He added that work over the weekend included cleanup of the scene after the “small fire” hit the school’s computer lab.
Extra cleaning was taking place today, with results from the air quality testing expected for this afternoon.
Once those results are ready, YG will determine if the school will be open Tuesday.
Nightingale said the fire department is investigating the source.
