Revised - Ross River RCMP and community members are continuing to make attempts to locate Ramona Peter, who was reported missing last Friday. She was last seen outside the village’s General Store on April 21.

Since her absence was reported, police have followed up on several leads. Some residents of the southeast Yukon community are also searching the region.

“Police are very concerned for Ramona’s well-being, and friends and family report that it is out of character for her to be out of contact for this long,” police said last weekend.

Starting last Saturday, Ross River RCMP engaged with Yukon RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS) and with Yukon Search and Rescue (YSAR) for assistance in the investigation.

That day, the Yukon RCMP plane conducted aerial patrols, and a helicopter and crew were involved in an aerial search of the area around Ross River last Sunday.

There have also been ground searches.

“Police have appreciated partnership and expertise provided by searchers associated with YSAR and community volunteers,” the RCMP said Monday afternoon.

The 40-year-old First Nations woman has long black hair and brown eyes. She is approximately five feet, six inches (168 cm) tall and weighs 110 lbs.

She was last seen wearing a long blue winter jacket.

Ross River RCMP have spoken with a variety of witnesses and continue to follow up on Peter’s absence.

Anyone who has seen or interacted with her since April 21 is encouraged to contact their local police or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 667-6715 or at http://www.crimestoppersyukon.ca

“Sometimes, even information that may seem insignificant can be an important factor in an investigation,” police noted.

Meanwhile, the RCMP con-firmed today that 29-year-old Christine Goodwin of Whitehorse has been located. She had been reported missing on April 19.

“She is safe and sound. Thanks to the media and public for your assistance,” the RCMP said.

When missing persons have been found, police do not provide the details that explain their absence.
