The Yukon’s chief coroner is investigating the death of a Ross River man.

The cause and manner of death are currently undetermined, chief coroner Kirsten Macdonald said today in a press release.

“At this point in the investigation, it would be irresponsible to speculate on cause of death until an autopsy can be performed and all details of the circumstances are confirmed through the proper investigative channels,” she said.

An autopsy has been ordered, and the man’s body will be sent to Vancouver General Hospital.

Environment Yukon wasn’t able to confirm whether reports of a grizzly bear involved in the man’s death are accurate.

The department told the Star conservation officers had been sent to the community to verify whether those rumours were accurate.

CBC North has reported that the body of 22-year-old Shane Glada was found Sunday in the community.

Ross River RCMP refused to comment on the matter today, directing media to the coroner’s office.
