A 41-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning near Whitehorse.
The Yukon Coroner’s Service has identified him as Austin Osborne of Whitehorse.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., Whitehorse RCMP and Whitehorse EMS responded to the collision on the Alaska Highway near Whitehorse, police said Tuesday. It occurred about two kilometres south of the Hamilton Boulevard/Robert Service Way intersection.
Police Dog Services and the Whitehorse Fire Department also attended.
“Through investigation, police determined that a Ford pickup truck left the road and flipped over,” police said in a news release. The southbound vehicle had crossed the highway and rolled into the east ditch.
Osborne, who had been alone in the vehicle, was found dead at the scene.
The Yukon Coroner’s Service is now leading the investigation.
