A potlatch was held Wednesday in Whitehorse to honour the life of Joshua Robert Behn, who died in a vehicle rollover in Fort Nelson, B.C., on March 1.
Fort Nelson RCMP were called to the accident involving a 2006 GMC pickup truck about 60 kilometres south of Fort Nelson on the Alaska Highway.
Arriving at the scene at around 3 p.m., police found Behn, 24, and one of three people in the truck, had died.
Joshua Kotchea, 25, and Bryan Capot-Blanc, 22, who also live in the B.C. community, were taken to Fort Nelson General Hospital, Fort Nelson RCMP Sgt. Tom Roy said this week.
Kotchea remained in the local hospital in fair condition, but Capot-Blanc was transferred to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton with life-threatening injuries. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
Speed, alcohol and a lack of seatbelt use are believed to have been factors in the crash as police continue their investigation.
It's unknown who was driving the vehicle at the time.
Roy said police are waiting for Capot-Blanc to be in a condition where he can be interviewed about the accident.
