Robert Service Way will be closed yet again this weekend.

This time, the reason isn’t a landslide.

The artery will be off-limits to traffic from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.

“The closure will allow our contractor the space to safely work without risk to the travelling public,” the City of Whitehorse said Wednesday afternoon.

The work includes widening the asphalt surface and removing the soil berm. The remaining material from April’s landslide will be removed at a later date.

“This will position us better for next spring when implementing protective measures, so the shift in travelling lanes does not extend onto the gravel shoulder,” the city said

“This will also re-establish a paved shoulder for active transportation users heading into town.”

The Millennium Trail will remain open during the temporary road closure. Active commuters will be detoured to the trail during the construction work.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience during this time,” the city said.

Does it seem to anyone else that the attention to guiding vehicles around construction is not as thorough as it used to be? Sometimes it feels like it's not their job anymore. You know, adequate signage, flag persons, serious potholes ahead...it's a bit dicey sometimes.

Well Nathan...if they act like each simple thing is a space launch, then a army of folks can be hired to view the telemetry, hold windbag meetings feasting on snacks provided by us mere rubes, have a complex hierarchy to help dilute any sense of accountability, feel as a civic team that all the wizards are just...well..off the charts AMAZING at ruining...I mean running the city...into the ground.
bureaucrats are like bacteria or parasites they multiply at a uncontrollable rate, they need a host far more than the host needs bacteria or parasites
Take a good look at our many political blowholes, they are feeding well

...is why Nathan

Seriously, just one lane with lights and alternating traffic like a highway construction zone. It's not that difficult really.

Why does council treat basic problems/solutions like they are a space launch?
