The Yukon Medical Association is calling on governments to work through their differences about how to improve the nation’s health care system.

“This week, doctors from across Canada joined together to speak up about their concerns for the state of health care in Canada,” the YMA said Wednesday.

“Spanning the entire nation, doctors agree that federal, provincial and territorial governments need to chart a path out of the current health care crisis.

“Doctors across the country are calling for action now through significant funding increases and collaboration that will deliver real improvements and results for patients.”

The YMA has joined its colleagues “in solidarity to call for governments to work through their differences.

“We urge the Yukon government to work with its national counterparts on a real solution that will deliver better health care for Yukoners, both now and into the future,” the YMA said.

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) said in a statement, “Health care is in crisis in every province and territory in Canada.

“Patients cannot access the care they need in a timely fashion and providers are rapidly burning out.

“This week, organizations representing physicians across Canada are calling on the federal and provincial/territorial governments to collaborate immediately to begin solving the country’s health systems crisis,” the CMA added.

“These organizations are disappointed that meaningful commitments to pan-Canadian collaboration and increased health care funding did not emerge from the recent health ministers’ meeting in Vancouver.”

“On behalf of Canada’s doctors, we respectfully urge first ministers to advance meaningful action for the patients of Canada,” reads a letter sent to the prime minister and all premiers.

“The gaps in our health care system are growing wider with every day that passes without the necessary political leadership to address the growing crisis.”

The letter was signed by the presidents of the CMA and of medical associations and societies across Canada, including the YMA.

Do you think the lock-down-liberal (LDL) policy of firing professional, fully trained, healthcare workers who refused their local politician's gunk being forced into their arteries, has anything to do with the current "health care crisis"?

YMA sure could have helped the situation by not lobbying the government to hamstring the Nurse Practitioner role - their scope of practice here is a fraction of what it is outside.

Self serving lobbying? Oh I think so!

I agree with Rick S, we need to get rid of the administration positions gobbling up resources in the health sector and push those funds to where they actually belong (medical professionals like doctors and nurses salaries and medical equipment and supplies). All of these HR roles, managers, administrators running HIPMA and ATIPP and all of those need to be condensed bigtime. Trim the bureaucratic fat and get funding where it actually belongs. Basically we just need less government overall in this town.

So. a national "medical" organization -- top-heavy with Liberals -- is pushing for provinces to "cooperate" on their desire for billions in more funding. I suspect their plea for cooperation is directed against conservative governments.

And, our local YMA -- also top-heavy with Liberals -- is practically lock-step with GY on every government narrative and is also pushing for more funding. And GY itself is lock-step with Trudeau liberals. One big circle jerk.

The same organizations that advocated for lock-downs, mandatory masking, vaccine mandates and that worked to destroy the health-care system, the economy and the very social fabric of Canada is now demanding more . . . many, many billions more.

I still wait to hear how the many billions they demand will solve the so-called health care "crisis". Or, is this just another scheme to stuff money into certain pockets?

Just before Covid, I could make an appointment with my doctor within a week. Today it takes at least a month. Whats wrong? Are the docs afraid of catching the virus? They want to talk to their patients by phone instead of in person. Why does it take weeks to get an X-ray? The last time I got one, I was the only one in the lineup - and it was midday. Everything things to be slowing down. In the meantime His nibs JT is throwing money all over the world without accountability. The problem is bad management and lack of accountability.

Despite the lip service the Trudeau Liberals offer up to explain the money drains in the country, Health Care, patient care, is NOT very important to them.

Josey is correct. The Medical Association's have allowed politician's, most of whom are not smarter than a 5th graders to make and enforce medical decisions. Politicians withhold funding or refuse to talk about funding to force compliance from Doctors. Every doctor, but 1, that I know is in debt, trying to pay for a home and family, clinic fee's, student loans, lines of credit.

Our doctors and nurses, nation wide, are caught between a rock and another rock. They really can't get rid of the guy holding the purse strings.

Purge the politicians outta your system, those that follow lock step, return science to your profession...should be okay.
Currently it is, like a cancer, infected with politics, political correctness and as a result?
I suggest the social contract is very very broken, and political blowholes broke it.
I wish you all the luck restoring any faith in our many great medical staff as long as it can be tolerated as such a failed system.
Many if not all our chief medical officers acted as wee lil tyrants in the last few years.
Funny that, many are no longer in their positions?
Many took their bonuses and split, some became liberal politicians.
Just like ours did during an epic conflict of interest for example.

Oh yeah, till every hip in this country that needs fixing is fixed...I suggest gender reassignment surgery be lower on priority.

Blow up the health bureaucracy and administration. We have the highest or close to highest administrator to physician ratio of developed nations. Did anyone see the extensive Alberta health administrator salary list? There's an army of low-level paper pushers making $150,000+.

The CMA isn't begging for money to address the health crisis; they're begging for more money to feed at the trough.

Sorry my friends the Feds are far too busy spending money and effort elsewhere and their pet projects. Don't hold your breath for even one moment. Health care in this country lags far behind climate change which in itself gobbles up more money then is spent on health care.
