Angela and Brian Boyes laid the second wreath for their son, Lieutenant Justin Boyes, at the Remembrance Day ceremony. They are recipients of the Memorial Cross (more often referred to as the Silver Cross). Justin, 26, was in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and died in Afghanistan Oct. 28, 2009 during his second tour. The Memorial Cross was first instituted by order-in-council 2374, dated Dec. 1, 1919. It was awarded to mothers and widows (next of kin) of Canadian soldiers who died on active duty or whose deaths were consequently attributed to such duty.
