An RCMP response to a domestic dispute call Thursday morning turned into a seizure of items associated with violent criminal behaviour.
A bullet-proof vest, bear spray, ammunition, a baseball bat, gas mask, rifle clip and tools used for breaking glass were among the items taken out of the vehicle, police said Thursday afternoon.
It was while investigating a call about possible domestic violence in Porter Creek that a Whitehorse constable seized the items from a vehicle.
"There was some concern a few weeks ago over the RCMP using a technique called a ‘high-risk take down,' " Sgt. Don Rogers said.
"While seizures such as these are rare in the Yukon, it is important for the public to know the risks associated with police work and that simply being in the Yukon does not make the community or police immune to such dangers.”
Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
No charges have been laid, and the vehicle owner's name was not released.
