Why did it take one whole year for them to reach out to the public?

We all know the old adage about money talking. Crank up the reward and you will get your man (or woman). If it doesn't work tack on another 10,000. Eventually it will work.

I see nothing in this press release that says anyone believes that someone is protecting a murderer. They are asking for tips, and I'd imagine this isn't the first time they asked, but they are asking again.
If anyone knows anything, call the police and let them assess the information and follow up on it.

Please rest in peace Ms Ollie. Perhaps one day some of those who cry, protest, march and drum for justice will realize they can play a significant part in delivering that justice by helping law enforcement to capture the mutt who killed you. There are too many voices who are silent at the wrong times.

This is a ho-hum conundrum Drum... It's not sad that they won’t talk it is sad that the community will not let them talk and sadder still that this way of life was literally drummed into them through the savagery of colonialist institutions... It is a hard fix and this murder is the tip of the iceberg in that community and many others like it.
Self-governing - Good luck. The violence in that community is, in a word, unrelenting and nothing is done to stop it.
You know why? Because as it has been implemented Gladue has become a farcical script penned over and over again by the system. The people running the show have no idea that their anti-racist remedy is an even greater racism than the so-called former system because it sends violent and sexually violent offenders back into the community to reoffend over and over again thereby amplifying the Gladue factors, perpetuating them, and growing them exponentially. It is absolute insanity. It is a waste of everyone’s time and everyone’s money.
Gladue has been stripped of its intent and purpose and it has become a blunt instrument of cultural genocide. Defense Lawyers and their Lackeys - The Courts and the Crown make me frown at the societies they have turned upside down.

It's traditional to not cooperate. Which is why there are so many unsolved cases. Despite the millions of dollars the liberals give to solve the problem of unsolved cases of missing and murdered women you can't open closed mouths. So, where does those millions go? Do the math.

Wow. Just wow! Good to know that one year after the fact, the R.C.M.P. has no other choice but to just tell Yukoners that the community refused to hand over the killer.

I for one, sincerely hope the RCMP get said help requested.
For this AND the other unsolved homicides we have too damn many of...
She and her family and friends, deserve actual justice.
Even if caught, there is a chance that "actual" justice may not be served.
I would embrace in a very big way being wrong, but my point stands.
I hope they get the help and person or persons are held to account.
59 years to the day she came into this world too!...
