Tyrell Mark Sidney, 24, isn't considered dangerous to the public, but police have several arrest warrants for him, including for three instances of vehicle chases, explained Sgt. John Sutherland, Whitehorse RCMP spokesman.
The sergeant also noted the man has been implicated in several police chases, which pose a risk to other drivers.
The Whitehorse man has numerous residences throughout the city and if anyone spots him, they're asked to call the local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The most recent investigation involving Sidney was a gunpoint robbery on Feb. 2. Both Sidney and a relative of his, Sasha Tamara Sidney, are charged with robbery.
Sasha Sidney was arrested Tuesday evening and made her first appearance in court Wednesday afternoon. She's accused of robbing a man of a cordless phone and a frying pan while she was armed with a handgun. She's also charged with breaching a probation order.
Tyrell Sidney was charged with failing to stop for police last September after officers tried to stop a fleeing vehicle. They lost sight of the vehicle then, but caught up with Sidney when police received a call that his vehicle had been stolen. A dispatcher kept the man on the phone line while officers drove to his house to pick him up.
His trial on that matter was scheduled for Jan. 23, but he failed to appear. In a court appearance a few days earlier, the Crown had noted he didn't expect the man to appear for trial as the RCMP were looking for Sidney, who'd managed to give them the slip a couple times.
As well, Sidney is wanted on dangerous driving, possessing stolen property, failing to stop for police and breaching bail conditions after officers had to slow down Jan. 10 and stop a high-speed pursuit rather than crash in the poor road conditions.
An officer had been patrolling Hamilton Boulevard at the McIntyre Drive area when he spotted a driver he knew to be disqualified. When he ran the licence plate, it came back stolen, police said then.
On the Alaska Highway near the Bethany Tabernacle, the suspect car slowed briefly before speeding off when the policeman flicked on his flashing lights.
The officer stopped chasing the fleeing car in the Porter Creek area due to excessive speeds and poor road conditions. The last the constable saw of the suspect car was as it headed over a rise toward Haines Junction.
Since then, Sidney has also been charged with a third case of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and bail breach.
