Whitehorse RCMP are asking for the public’s help in their search for 25-year-old Jeremy Scurvey.

Police said in a statement this morning that in the early-morning hours of Saturday, officers “were made aware of a missing person that was last seen in the waters of the Yukon River at the end of Lambert Street and Front Street, by Kanoe People.”

RCMP called in additional members and activated Yukon Search and Rescue in their efforts.

“A helicopter was also employed by Whitehorse RCMP to aid in the search from the air,” RCMP said today. “Local air traffic have been advised as well.”

Police are continuing the search, concentrating on the Yukon River, but are not discounting the possibility the missing man may have emerged from the river further downstream and could be elsewhere.

“Mr. Scurvey is described as a First Nation male, five foot six inches tall with black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark blue hoodie and jeans,” RCMP stated.

Anyone with information on Scurvey or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call RCMP at 667-5555.
