A man who escaped from RCMP custody has been found.

Calvin Roger Pavey fled from police custody while at the Andrew Philipsen Law Centre this morning.

He was then recaptured approximately an hour later at 10:49 a.m., said Cpl. Grant MacDonald, acting media liaison with the RCMP.

The 33-year-old was making an appearance at the court house in relation to five incidents of break and entry and theft at local businesses this morning when he escaped at approximately 9:50.

How Pavey got away from the police is still under investigation, said MacDonald.

Pavey was spotted not long after his escape on Second Avenue wearing grey sweat pants and bare feet, according to an RCMP news release.

Police put out a radio request for public assistance in finding the man and also put out patrols looking for him, said MacDonald.

A called-in tip from a citizen directed the police to the industrial area of Whitehorse, he said. After knocking on doors in the area, officers found Pavey inside a residence.

The investigation into Pavey's escape is continuing and he may face additional charges, said MacDonald.
