RCMP probe missing persons case

The RCMP's major crimes unit is continuing an investigation into two missing people.
They're doing so even though the pair was found late Thursday afternoon and taken to Whitehorse General Hospital.
Tamara Lee Lucas, 20, and Mitchell Stewart Leblanc, 37, were reported missing to police at around 2:08 p.m. Wednesday by concerned family members.
Sgt. Roger Lockwood said this morning that initially, Lucas had been reported missing, and it was believed she may have been with Leblanc.
On Thursday, the RCMP air services unit found the white 1993 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup truck they believed Lucas and Leblanc were travelling in at a rest area 'near a bridge' south of Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway, a statement from the M-division RCMP said.
Both the air services unit and major crimes unit can be used when they're called upon, RCMP Sgt. Roger Lockwood said this morning.
The highway was closed as a precautionary measure, he explained.
'We didn't know what we would find,' he said.
'As a result, the police were able to successfully locate both missing individuals.
'As a precautionary measure, both were taken to Whitehorse General Hospital for observation, examination and any required treatment,' the statement reads.
Hospital spokeswoman Val Pike said this morning Lucas was treated and released, while Leblanc was kept overnight for observation.
Pike could not provide details on what they were treated for.
'I can't say because RCMP are investigating,' she explained.
Lockwood would also not provide information on why the man and woman were taken to the hospital, stressing it's part of an ongoing investigation.
Part of that work includes looking at the relationship between the two, though Lockwood said the two are known to each other.
Whether any charges will be laid from the event will depend on what evidence is gathered during the investigation, Lockwood said.
