Three Yukon men are in custody and facing drug charges following a New Year's Eve bust in Watson Lake.
In a statement released Thursday, RCMP said as part of an ongoing investigation, the Watson Lake detachment executed a search warrant on an apartment in the southeast Yukon community.
Six officers – the whole Watson Lake detachment – were involved in the investigation.
Approximately 86 grams of cocaine in crack and powder form were seized along with about 25 grams of marijuana and a "large amount of cash.”
Watson Lake RCMP Sgt. Cam Lockwood would not say this morning exactly how much money was involved, explaining that the case is still under investigation.
The three arrested people made their first court appearance in Whitehorse on Wednesday and have been remanded into custody, Lockwood said.
Watson Lakers Jared Munch, 35, and Shaylene Porter, 25, as well as 28-year-old Tyler Voss of Whitehorse are charged with the possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana.
"This successful enforcement action is part of the RCMP's initiative to combat illegal activities, to reduce crime and promote a safe and secure community,” it's noted in the statement.
"The RCMP strongly encourages Yukoners to report any crime or suspicious activity to their local RCMP detachment.”

Jackie, I agree with you often but on this one you are off base. People dealing crack, coke and meth know they are dealing in substances that ruin lives. And they do not care because they want the money, or they are paying for their own addiction. Marijuana? Different story in my opinion. But as for your comparison, should Barcardi be blamed if someone kills someone drunk driving, no. But a bar that over served and let the person walk out the door should be, and is, held somewhat responsible. As a dealer should be except to a greater extent because the products being supplied are even more dangerous than booze. you can be sure Shaun's kid did not od on pot, because there has never been a marijuana od, ever, anywhere.

I'm sorry for your loss Shaun. But is it the drug dealers fault your son overdosed? No one forces people to do drugs. Blaming the drug dealer is, in my opinion, deflecting responsibility. When someone kills someone drinking and driving, should Barcardi be held responsible? There's your answer. It all comes down to one owns responsibility, and nothing else.

Its about time. Don't stop there, there are many more dealers in our little community. Just off the top of my head I can name 5 more.

So are these people going to walk through the justice system like it was a swinging door or is the system going to get serious dealing with these people. I lost my son to a drug overdose a year ago and though he was only a casual drug user it still killed him. I firmly believe that any drug trafficker is responsible for at least 1 drug overdose and the sentence should reflect that. Sometimes it is hard not to think of vigilante justice. The police are doing the best they can
