Whitehorse RCMP are investigating break and enters that occurred recently at local construction sites.

A variety of tools and construction equipment were taken from buildings under construction during the first week of December.

Last Friday, police said yesterday, they received a report of break and enters in the Whistle Bend neighbourhood.

Staff from construction companies working in the area noted damage to buildings, in addition to tools and building materials having been stolen.

Items taken include nailers, staplers, impact guns and garage doors.

Based on video surveillance provided to investigators, police believe the suspect(s) may be driving an older-model, red Chevrolet pickup truck during the commission of these offences.

“Anyone with surveillance video that may show this offence, particularly those who live on or near Leota Street in Whistle Bend, is encouraged to contact police,” the RCMP said.

Anyone who may have information regarding these thefts or the people and vehicles involved is encouraged to contact police at 667-5551.

To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers via phone at 667-6715 or online at http://www.crimestoppersyukon.ca.

Perhaps it's time to have a couple cars doing neighbourhood patrols during the high theft hours.

Between brazen thefts like these and the ongoing plague of car shoppers, that dash cam footage just might help - and once in a blue moon they might even apprehend someone in the act.

Well considering that cultural criminals that kill seem to get weekends up here, what are the courts going to do with thieves to help them hone their craft?
That said, M thank you for still answering your phone when we call.
Many great members on that team, but your collective team is represented by a political blowhole, politicly compromised lackey...!

Please don't arrest these dudes until I have an opportunity to buy an extra long ladder to change lightbulbs in my cathedral ceilings. Of course, that's sarcasm, but the point is valid. Criminals are not stealing and break and entering business and residences for the hell of it. Some one is buying the items they steal at greatly reduced prices. Shop lifting, money scams, over 5K thefts, auto thefts, have become a bustling business, and a profitable one at that.

Gotta stop the crime? Put the market in jail with the crook. Try Buy and Sell? Put an ad up, "Looking for used, like new condition, Kitchen Aid food processor. Cheap or free' and I betcha someone will go steal it for you and send a note to your inbox.
