The front counter of the Whitehorse RCMP detachment on Fourth Avenue will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. Sept. 26 until 1 p.m. Sept. 27.

“This closure is to allow for education for the support staff,” police said Thursday.

“There will be no disruption in policing services as Whitehorse RCMP officers are still available to respond to calls for service/assistance to the public.”

The detachment’s front door remains open to access a phone to call for RCMP assistance.

There is a phone in the lobby that will automatically direct people to the non-emergency line (667-5555), where the caller’s report will be taken.

To report an incident that requires urgent/emergency attendance by police, call 911.

To report a non-urgent matter to the police, call 667-5555.

Citizens can also report non-urgent matters or crimes not in progress (such as property offences) to police through the online crime reporting tool at https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/whitehorse/en

If you require services such as criminal record checks, you can submit completed criminal record check forms to whitehorsefrontdesk@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or visit the detachment after it reopens on Sept. 27.
