By Whitehorse Star on September 29, 2020

Two men face charges after the latest round of traffic stop arrests reported by the RCMP.

Last Wednesday, during a traffic stop on Second Avenue, police said Monday, officers observed what was believed to be crack cocaine inside a vehicle.

With the assistance of the Yukon RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit, officers searched the vehicle.

They found suspected fentanyl, suspected crack cocaine, various unknown pills, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Wayne Jackson, 54, has been charged with the following under the Criminal Code:

• possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;

• possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking;

• possession of property obtained by crime; and

• two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Michael Bland, 40, has been charged with the possession of property obtained by crime.

Jackson and Bland appeared in court last Thursday and were remanded into custody. Jackson will next appear in court today.

Bland appeared a second time last Friday and was released on conditions. He will next appear this coming Friday.

Poor parenting is the main cause. Sure blame it on easy money, school, poverty, drugs, mental health but at the end of the day the responsibility rests on parents. Unfortunately in today’s world, rarely is anyone ever held accountable anymore since people choose to play the victim card
Instead.

How many people died in the last 2 years in Yukon from fentanyl and did these upstanding citizens sell to any of them?

@Hur Dur
List my sources are the questions Bland gets asked every time he's arrested and he complies otherwise he would not be being released. As for my sources unlike Bland I wouldn't explain anything or give anyone's name up to a person trying to make excuses for these and POS.
Or try and legalize narcotics that kill people and stop hiding under a alias. Say your name, I have no problem talking to a real person not a hideout.

I have noted the irregular thumbs up and down on this site for years. It is obvious that some are voting more then once. I have raised it but the WS does not seem interested in fixing it, I guess they like the idea that there are actually a 100 people reading the wing nut comments and agreeing with them?

Dear Hur Dur - it looks like Conspiracy-65 is on to you... Look at the numbers today... They’ve changed them to mess with your mind.

I agree with you that the “lawyers” are the only ones really winning at this game... Perhaps maybe the judges and the spin-off industries too: Politicians, Probation Officers, Gladuists, Treatment Centre’s and places like MWSUS and the ilk that it contains.

The 3 most concerning and problem creating groups in this social issue are the Politicians, the Lawyers and the MWSUS. The difficulty with Politicians should be readily apparent with the whole Centre of Hope/Low Barrier Shelter fiasco. The Lawyers - Where to begin? The defence counsel breed should be thinned and their political activities defunded and I mean this in the broadest sense of the idea.

Then there is the problem of MWSUS - Many of the individuals who “practice” there should not be given a license to run a hotdog stand let alone work with individuals who are experiencing psychological vulnerabilities. Really - Many of them are dangerous enablers with little ethical drive.

Today in Yellowknife a similar person was sentenced to 5 and 1/2 yrs for same or similar offence. This being the Yukon court system you divide that by two and that's what it'll be.

@ Hur Dur
Let's legalize recreational drugs and complaining about the amount of likes a comment gets proves you are as ignorant as your comment. First cocaine, fentanyl and heroin are not recreational drugs. They are community destroying devices that are responsible for every overdose and death drug related in the Yukon and worldwide. As for the odds of 65 likes that's easy. Some of us here in the Yukon are not blind to the fact that this pos has been rearrested numerous times in the last year on conditions yet a guy caught shoplifting is remanded in custody, bail denied. Not only is this guy useless as a productive member of our society living off the avails of other peoples misery, but he is rewarded by our justice system by releasing him over and over. Which can only mean two things; our justice department doesn't care about the people or this guy cooperates every time he's picked up. Either way it's disgusting as is your legalize recreational drugs.

It would seem my last comment didn't make it though. Let's try this again,
There seems to be 3 comments on here with the exact same 65 likes. That is definitely irregular. What are the odds that could happen?

Only lawyers win when this revolving door of futility continues.
Legalize recreation drugs, test and regulate then tax to pay for better health and child care programs.
Morality has never stopped human appetite for escaping reality. Why would this be the year?

People in the Yukon are dying of Fentanyl. Why is this not aggravated assault or attempted murder?

These guys are selling drugs and maybe a drug which poisons and kills people.
When does the justice system say enough is enough and get them off the streets.

I have heard about their poor childhoods and efforts to turn their lives around but it does not happen.

For those of you keeping score or new to the Territory you will note that Jackson and Bland are career criminals who keep getting a slap on the wrist all the while distributing fentanyl, which is known btw to kill people. It’s high time for these Yukon judges to bide the times and start putting these guys in jail.

Michael Bland again? What's it been, 6 months since the last one? And a couple years since the one before that? Anyone see a pattern of not caring?

I believe Wayne also has a past of the same nature but with a different last name, but that could be rumor.
Policing must be a really thankless job when this happens.
