Public warned about local offender
The RCMP are warning Whitehorse residents that a sexual offender, who they believe is a high risk for re-offending, has recently been released and is living in the city.

Christian James Gallan was most recently convicted Sept. 21 of indecent acts and trespassing or prowling at night near a home. He committed both offences on July 5.
Gallan was sentenced to serve five months concurrently for each offence.
He was sentenced to serve a further two months for violating a probation order to abstain from consuming alcohol or controlled substances.
Gallan was previously convicted and sentenced to five months for committing indecent acts in November 2011 and served 14 months for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2009.
Gallan is 37 years old, is 173 cm (5'8”) tall and weighs 70 kg. (160 lbs.).
He is on probation until Dec. 17, 2014.
He is under a court order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, abstain from the possession or consumption of alcohol and controlled drugs, and to not enter any bar, tavern, or off-sales premises.
Gallan is also prohibited from possessing any firearm, crossbow, restricted weapon, ammunition or explosive substance.

He got 14 months for sexually assaulting a 15 year-old girl? This lowlife should still be in jail and certainly not out in public where it sounds like other children are in danger.

When is Whitehorse going to stop being a play ground for these types of offenders. Where did he come from is a very good and valid question and why do our children and women have to be potential targets? Who let him out in our town, they should be held responsible for him in our community and the crimes he makes against the people in it. ie share his cell.

It's all the bleeding hearts in the world today. They all claim that stiffer penalties don't deter crime. That may be the case but what they have to look at is if we had stiffer penalties then offenders such as this one would still be in prison for the crimes he has already committed. I cannot believe that this guy is on the streets again. If this guy attacks another innocent person then he should be locked up for the rest of his pathetic life.
