Twenty new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported from noon last Wednesday through noon Friday, Dr. Catherine Elliott, the acting chief medical officer of health, said late Friday afternoon.

Nineteen are Yukon residents, with 14 in Whitehorse and four in communities. One person’s residence is still under investigation, while one out-of-territory resident was diagnosed in the Yukon.

The number of active cases as of Friday was 70. Data from the past weekend were unavailable before press time this afternoon.

The total number of confirmed cases in Yukon residents since March 2020 was 921.

People from out of the territory but who are diagnosed in the Yukon are counted in the active case count but not in the Yukon’s total case count, as they are counted in their home jurisdiction.

Since March 2020, 856 people have recovered, while 10 have died.

Elliott has also declared the outbreak at Whistle Bend Place ended last Thursday.

Family members and residents have been advised and began resuming visits on Saturday.

Elliott has issued COVID-19 public exposure notices for Mobile Maintenance Services and Ajax Steel, 143 Industrial Rd., Whitehorse, Oct. 18, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Oct. 25, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; Oct. 26, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Oct. 27, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Oct. 28, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Anyone at this location on these dates and times should self-monitor for 14 days from their last visit and get tested if they develop any symptoms.

With the number of cases of COVID-19 climbing steadily through September and October, Elliott asks unvaccinated people to stick to groups of six, while people who are vaccinated may have 20 people indoors.

People should wear a mask in indoor public spaces. If people have symptoms, they should isolate and get tested.

@Politico too funny, I bet the same people wearing masks also have 2 shots.. LOL! What does that tell you? They don't believe the shots work? Or they're immensely scared of a virus that has killed 0.07% of Canadians, with 70% of the deaths over 80.. both equally as pathetic

Most of the "cases" are people who are already "vaccinated", but that fact is conveniently omitted from the public announcement. You can be sure if most of the "cases" were "unvaccinated" that they would be repeating that numerous times in the story.

The WHO Confirms that the Covid-19 PCR Test is Flawed: Estimates of “Positive Cases” are Meaningless. The Lockdown Has No Scientific Basis

These invalid Covid-19 “estimates” have been used to justify confinement, social distancing, the face mask, the prohibition of social gatherings, cultural and sports events, the closure of economic activity, as well as the mRNA “vaccine” launched in November 2020.

No Surprise on Nov 1, 2021 at 10:49 pm

@politico Is it really surprising though? I mean 40% of the territory voted for the Yukon Party in the last election and that political party has opposed almost all of the restrictions put in place by the government and are heavily funded by the anti-vaxxers who brought a lawsuit against the government. Most recently they have come out against vaccine mandates as well. So it shows that a large portion of Yukon's population likely does not trust our medical professionals and government in general. Not to say that all Yukon Party voters think that way, but a large portion must or they would not have voted for them. So the result is less people wearing masks, adhering to gathering limits and more people believing in wacky conspiracy theories etc etc

With over 75% of Yukoners vaccinated, and so many still wearing masks, why is the covid count rising? Methinks there is a scam brewing.

10 deaths. Stats? over 60? under 60? Prior health conditions? Great health?

People do know that for a mask to be effective it has to be a 3 layer mask with a polypropylene filter. Though John Hopkins says if a mask is fitted properly with a proper filter, 2 layers will be sufficient. Personally, I won't wear a mask, but I respect those who do. But, I also see people walking around giving me a self righteous little eye brow raise, wearing a piece of paper, or masks hanging over their rear view mirror. If you are going to wear a mask, do it properly.

PLEASE YG! Your citizens are not asking, they are begging you - start reporting vaccination status of these cases, and start reporting the breakdown of ages (and break down these under 12 into a separate category, NOT lumped into up to 29)! We have a right to this information (that is available in so many other jurisdictions), and we need more transparent reporting so that we can quell the fear, misinformation and false narratives that are in over abundance right now. PLEASE - DO something!

While cases soar we continue to open up the territory and relax restrictions. Despite the warnings from medical people the majority of people in stores are maskless! Madness!
