One person was injured Monday afternoon after a propane tank exploded on Range Road.
The Whitehorse Fire Department reported that “at approximately 12:50 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to a report of a 20-pound propane tank explosion at a construction site located at 468 Range Road.
“Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that a worker sustained injuries when a one-pound propane cylinder that was being used for hot work failed catastrophically.
“Minor damage was also sustained to the area around the worker. No evidence of fire was observed at the scene.”
Paramedics assessed, treated and transported the injured worker to Whitehorse General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Since Yukon occupational health and safety officials are investigating the mishap, no further information will be provided to the public.

And YWCHSB will conduct their investigation for the specific purpose of laying the blame on the worker so the worker cannot hold the employer liable for any injuries. YWCHSB is just doing what they do... protecting employers at workers' expense. Mark my words.

And it took two days to get this report out. Time to get a newer and younger dog team and get rid of the older slower ones.
