The Yukon has a “probable” new case of COVID-19, Dr. Brendan Hanley, the territory’s chief medical officer, announced Saturday.

An individual from Whitehorse was tested at the Whitehorse General Hospital Emergency Department with a GeneXpert rapid test. A subsequent test has been sent to B.C. for confirmation.

The person is stable and self-isolating, according to a Yukon government press release.

The case is linked to travel outside of the Yukon.

Yukon Communicable Disease Control (YCDC) is awaiting confirmation of the positive test result from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

YCDC has begun contact tracing and investigating. No public exposure has been identified.

Anyone who has been in contact with the individual will be contacted and directed on the next steps.

The Yukon acquired the GeneXpert rapid testing machine last April.

The device can produce a COVID-19 test result in 45 minutes, but may provide less accurate results.

Last spring, Hanley said that the GeneXpert machine wouldn’t replace regular testing procedure, and all tests would be sent to B.C. for confirmation.

ya'll...did a re read on my participation here, noticed a error..wish to mislead no one.

replace "probable" with certainty, and better sense is made of it.
Unlike this "false positive" of kung flu, the CHIna virus cuz it comes from CHIna,
Mine is a positive, positive...which by default is a negative...for our communities.

the very communities that willingly or unwillingly are harboring said low lives yet CAUGHT for expiring another human against their wishes?
Have been, and will be called many things till change comes.

The state, I suppose desires germs not kill one single person..EVER!
That same state, however ensures those that choose to kill, rape, maim, and destroy...can do so (via B.O.L.E) with all opportunities that present themselves.

...and yes, so important to THEE state that chaos, destruction and blood flows
Of course so they can keep us safe, from ourselves...gobs of rules and regulations follow.
Some of said rules, give cultural diplomacy and seemingly exclusive "rights" via opportunities to choose...
what level of chaos they desire... whom are they too rape today... what that currently does not belong to me, soon will.
Section 718.2(e) of CCC & Gladue most certainly supports my cynical list above.

So in articles as this where, the state is presenting the political theatrics theater, with some complete bullsh•t concern with "public safety"

Herd immunity would save more lives than strict COVID-19 lockdown. A study published in the British Medical Journal last Wednesday, suggest that while strict public health measures bring cases down, in the long run, the number of deaths rise.

Yukoners rapid testing is going on in the world for CV19 according medical people who are working on the CV19.
It is already out there and Federal Government has to move on this for safety of our people, especially people at risk.
There are two types of rapid test available - one is administered by a medical office.
Second one you go to your drug store and buy it and take it home and test yourself. You get the result in short time frame.

So Trudeau admitted yesterday that Canada health organization did a poor job of handling of CV19 virus out break but blames it on Stephen Harper who did not have things in place to deal with the CV19 situation. Yukoners this is so bad it is not funny.

Why bother releasing the news of a probable case if you won't give any details. Just wait until you actually know and then you can give out any information about it.

"Anyone who has been in contact with the individual will be contacted". So, who is this individual so we know if we have been in contact with him/her? Why the big secret? The Gov wants its citizens to co-operate with them, how about the Gov co-operating with us? Or do we have to go through the the ATIP/Access to Information and Privacy Act?

If you were on contact list and refuse to get tested.. will you be locked up? Will you be fined?
How much more of our freedoms will we exchange for "safety"?
