CELEBRATING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT – David Gatensby, Yukon University’s student speaker, led Saturday’s march to the Yukon Arts Centre for the graduation ceremony. Gatensby also received the Silver Governor General’s Academic Medal given to the student graduating with the highest academic standing in a baccalaureate degree program. There were about 233 graduates at this year event, including those seen below.

Premier, minister applaud graduates

Premier Ranj Pillai, Education Minister Jeanie McLean and the Liberal caucus congratulated Yukon University graduates on Friday.

Premier Ranj Pillai, Education Minister Jeanie McLean and the Liberal caucus congratulated Yukon University graduates on Friday.

“On behalf of the Yukon Liberal caucus, the Government of Yukon, and all Yukoners, we say ‘congratulations!’ to the 2023 graduating class of Yukon University,” said Pillai.

“This is an important milestone in your journey of life-long learning and an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the work you have done to meet the requirements of your degree,” the premier said.

McLean added, “While a graduation ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate your hard work, sacrifice and dedication, it is also a time to thank and celebrate the friends, family, and community members who were alongside you every step of the way.

“Thank you to all the friends, family members and communities who have supported our Yukon University graduates.

Pillai and McLean said together, “On behalf of the Yukon Liberal caucus, congratulations on your achievements, Yukon University graduates!

“We can’t wait to see what you do next!”
