Premier and Finance Minister Darrell Pasloski represented the Yukon at a two-day meeting of federal, provincial and territorial finance ministers in Meech Lake, Que.
The gathering took place Sunday and Monday.
"Finance ministers had a productive meeting and addressed a number of issues common to Yukoners and all Canadians,” Pasloski said in a statement.
"I was proud to share Yukon's strong financial position with my colleagues and highlight the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
This includes the expected need for skilled labour, energy, housing and transportation infrastructure.
"Yukon led the nation in GDP growth in 2011, we have had nine years of population growth and we have still succeeded in maintaining consistently low unemployment numbers,” Pasloski added.
"Yukon continues down the pathway to prosperity.”
Additional topics discussed at the meeting were the Canadian and international economic situations, labour markets, equalization arrangements, and Canada's retirement income system, including the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).
Pasloski was not available for an interview this morning.
However, he told CBC radio he doesn't believe the CPP system should be restructured to increase both employees' contributions and their payouts upon retirement, as other premiers are lobbying for.
Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney also delivered economic updates on the global and Canadian economies.

What? that's some real stones to go up in front of your counterparts and talk up how the Yukon is on a path to prosperity...when our transfer payments (what the rest of Canada pays us...) is keeping us afloat..
I mean really, almost a Billion dollars for 35,000 people from the rest of Canada's taxpayers?
All he should have said is "Thank you"

Its great to see Premier and Finance Minister Darrell Pasloski has a viewpoint which is contrary to what other premiers are lobbying for BUT- many Canadians are not prepared for their retirement and its time for our government representatives to help them out. The other Premiers get it but it seems Darrell does not.
