Policing priorities survey available

Whitehorse RCMP are looking to the public for recommendations on policing priorities for 2022-23, through a survey that will be available until Apr. 8.
The survey allows the public to have a say in the detachment priorities and annual performance planning activities.
Justice Minister Tracy-Anne McPhee identifies policing priorities for the Yukon RCMP on a yearly basis.
The priorities are based on the work provided by the Yukon Police Council and the Department of Justice.
The Whitehorse RCMP detachment uses these policing priorities along with consultation from the community, local leadership, governments and stakeholders to ensure that local police officers focus on issues of identified importance.
“We consider a wide variety of input when we plan our priorities, and this year, we want to give the public an opportunity to contribute directly to what our priorities will be,” Insp. Lindsay Ellis, the detachment’s commander, said today.
“Calls for service, statistics and crime trends from previous years, along with community partner and stakeholder input, all contribute to guiding how the detachment allocates resources and programming.”
Survey results and the annual priorities will be shared with the public after results are reviewed and compiled.
This is the first time a survey is being employed to reach the public, and it will be available in the following ways:
• A survey monkey has been sent up and is available until April 8;
• paper copies and a drop box will be available at the detachment’s front desk; and
• an email can be sent to whitehorsefrontdesk@rcmp-grc.gc.ca for an electronic copy of the survey; when completed, it can be printed and submitted to the drop box at the detachment or emailed back.
Answers will be kept anonymous but an option for individuals who wish to be contacted is available.
“Thank you to the public for helping to shape the Whitehorse RCMP detachment priorities,” police said.

What was that conservative Bill? on Mar 30, 2022 at 3:38 pm
Do you remember the great "safer streets and communities" program brought on by the Harperites I believe. Highly advertised with giant roll-out---- totally ineffective (doesn't hardly even get mentioned anymore)
Now a lot of these same gun wing-nuts want everybody to be able to arm themselves with those tripod mounted army type heavy guns.
Safer streets alright.

All the comments are made by the usual suspects. The most negative, opinionated, and useless get the highest thumbs up. We are waiting for the Pope to say sorry, meaning; guilty, guilty of what; guilty of a medieval, inquisitional, genocidal mind set driving the biggest criminal organization that has never been brought to justice; and you wonder why things are falling apart.

Wait a minute? McPhee does not have the confidence of the Ministers, nor the electorate, yet she remains in power to give guidance to the RCMP on their policing priorities… But she is the same Minister involved in the failures of the elementary school sex scandal? Did the RCMP not say that they didn’t make inquiries as to the possibility of further victims?
WTF? That is law enforcement 101 stuff there. Perhaps this is the problem with public perceptions about the RCMP? It’s not that they are incompetent it’s quite simply the fact that McPhee did not prioritize things like investigations and stuff like that… As the Minister of Social Services too she told the RCMP to drive around if they want, grab a coffee and a doughnut, be nice, and avoid arrests and taking complaints because you know what that means, right?
Yes, that’s right, investigations. I want to de-prioritize investigations. Like talking to criminals, following up on leads, tracking down witnesses, due diligence, public safety, getting lied to, being assaulted, preparing court packages, having the Crown Charge Review with requests for more information, more follow up… Only to have the judge throw them out while chastising the RCMP, Society, and everyone else other than the perpetrator for the perpetrator’s crimes…

Does Tracy-Anne McPhee ever smile. She looks like the grumpy guy off of the muppets. Turn that frown upside down and put a smile on your face. Its not that hard and its good for the wrinkles.

Once again the RCMP need the public for help.
The police clearly need more training so they can do their job by themselves.

One only needs to read the news to see the same names keep appearing for crimes committed. It's time for the judiciary to cease being soft on 'these poor criminals' while insurance companies are being hard on property owners/victims.
It's the same hoodlums again and again and again. Maybe the States' 3 strikes laws aren't such a bad idea.

I filed a case #2022-181-888 Re: Chased a local woman out of my house who was breaking in over a month ago, possibly the second such attempt as I was robbed 2 months beforehand in the middle of the night. Presided over by by one Constable Carruthers. Haven't heard a thing. I know this woman, have known her since Black Mikes in the 80's. How they have not found this drug addict with a lengthy criminal record in a town this small yet. Not even a follow up. Would the Whitehorse Star care to ask the good constable why I should participate in a survey when I am waiting for results?

1) Respond to the violence.
2) Burn the drugs.
3) Follow the money.

Why?
No matter what they do, they're going to do it poorly.

What a way to get ideas and make them theirs like Tracy has done for years.
