Two Whitehorse residents are up on charges of drug and weapons offences.

RCMP officers detained a man Sunday in "a planned roadside arrest” on suspicion of drug trafficking.

"They then executed a search warrant at a residence in the Kopper King trailer park, where a second individual, a woman, was arrested,” RCMP said in a release today.

The Yukon RCMP emergency response team was also deployed "to provide support during the arrests.”

Police seized a number of weapons and drugs.

The two individuals have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and weapons offences.

The duo remain in custody and are slated to appear in territorial court later today.

Yet another arrest for weapons and guns.. very sorry to see this.

There must be a pretty big demand here for street drugs for pushers to come this far with drugs and weapons..They wouldn't come here for pennies. I hope the courts give them max sentences.

I remember when the biggest thing to happen in Whitehorse was falling in the mud on Main Street trying to get from the Capital to the Gold Nugget Lounge. Pretty high boardwalks in those days.
