A 37-year-old Whitehorse man was stabbed twice early this morning at the Airport Chalet.

Whitehorse RCMP were called to the hotel at around 1:06 a.m. after hotel staff contacted them.

The victim had been stabbed twice and taken to Whitehorse General Hospital in what police say was not a random act.

'They were acquaintances,' said Cpl. Tom Wyers.

'It's not your home invasion or (an unknown person) barging into a hotel room. This was not a random act.'

The injuries weren't life-threatening and the victim was released after being treated.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect. He's described as a Caucasian male of average build and about five feet, eight inches tall.

He was wearing white winter camouflage pants and a jacket, a black long-sleeved shirt and a black ball cap.

As the investigation continues, police are asking for the public's help to find the suspect.

Anyone with information can call Whitehorse RCMP at 667-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 633-8477.
