Police investigating death in Watson Lake

Watson Lake RCMP are investigating the death of an 87-year-old male resident of Watson Lake.

Watson Lake RCMP are investigating the death of an 87-year-old male resident of Watson Lake.

Shortly after midnight this morning, police were called to a residence in Watson Lake following a report of an assault.

Upon officers’ arrival at the dwelling, a man was located deceased inside the home.

At the home, an adult male was taken into custody in connection with the investigation.

The Yukon RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section from Whitehorse are travelling to Watson Lake today to assist with the investigation.

The Yukon Coroner’s Service is also involved in the investigation.

No charges have been laid.

No further information was available at noon today.

The name of the deceased will not be released at this time, pending confirmation of notification of next-of-kin and further investigation, police said.

I had my life saved tonite. I had taken to much insulin and RCMP constable Joe Benedet kept me awake talking.
