Downtown residents are advised that the asphalt path at the end of Eighth Avenue, between Main Street and Wood Street, will be closed until further notice.

The purpose is to accommodate the Main Street Geohazard Mitigation Project.

The city’s contractor, Arctic Backhoe Services, will be constructing a berm adjacent to the path to reduce the escarpment geohazard risk.

Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Please obey construction signage as trucks and equipment are in the area,” the city said Tuesday.

“We thank you for your patience and consideration during construction.”

For more information, you can contact Arctic Backhoe Services at 633-5951 or the city’s Engineering Services Department at 668-8305.
