Pair of deaths investigated

Yukon RCMP are investigating two deaths in Whitehorse and Haines Junction.

Yukon RCMP are investigating two deaths in Whitehorse and Haines Junction.

A 35-year-old man was found dead at a home in the Hillcrest subdivision of Whitehorse on Monday morning. His name has not been released by police.

Police say his death is not considered suspicious.

The Yukon Coroner’s Service is leading the investigation into his death with assistance from the RCMP.

On Sunday, police said Monday, a 57-year-old man left Cottonwood Park for a run at 7:30 a.m. and went into medical distress near the Slims River Bridge.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has also not been released to the public.

His death is not considered suspicious, police said.

Several civilians performed CPR on the man prior to the arrival of emergency responders.

Haines Junction RCMP, Destruction Bay Emergency Medical Services, the Destruction Bay coroner and a nurse attended the scene.

The Yukon Coroner’s Service is now leading the investigation.

An autopsy is being scheduled to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Overkill you say JS? Naaaah, not up here where bureaucrats multiply like bacteria. Give it 10 years and there could be a HRT and UN offices in every community up here in this the pandering utopia that is our Yukon.

D-Bay has a Coroner? Really? That must be overkill for a community of fifty, isn't it? Even for the whole North Highway that is ridiculous. We should have one for Valley View. Haha.
