Whitehorse RCMP have arrested two men suspected of robbing the Casa Loma Motel in Porter Creek on April 5.

Tyler Benson, 23, and Adam Cormack, 22, have been charged with two counts each of robbery and wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a criminal offence.

The two men made their first appearance in court on Monday afternoon.

They've been remanded until their next appearance on April 23.

Whitehorse RCMP Const. Dean Hoogland said today police identified the two men following interviews with witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.

The RCMP received a 911 call from the Casa Loma bar at 11:15 p.m. April 5 reporting the robbery.

"Employees and patrons at the bar report(ed) that two individuals entered the bar, one wearing an ATV helmet and the other a balaclava,” police said at the time.

"The suspects approached the bartender and demanded money from the cash register.

"The bartender was pushed to the ground and the suspects grabbed a handful of cash from the register before fleeing. No weapons were used in this incident and the bartender was not injured.”

The ATV helmet was left at the scene of the Centennial Street robbery.

Look back to 2010, Adam Cormack did an attempted robbery wearing a disguise and using Bear spray at the Airport Chalet Fas Gas, for some reason the charges were dropped! I was the guy working at the gas bar at the time! What's next for this kid? Is he gonna shoot someone? This Punk needs to be sentenced in the most harsh manner!

The bar maid was pushed to the floor and robbed by two men wearing masks. She was 'not injured'?

I guess that depends on your definition. She did not require medical attention, but I would say anyone who is the victim of a violent robbery, and yes shoving someone to the floor does constitute violence, was indeed injured even if it is 'just' psychological trauma. And quite frankly, physical injury is nothing at all compared to psychological injury. Think about it. You whack your toe and it hurts like crazy, but you are completely over it in no time. But someone does something to you psychologically and it can take a very long time to get over it.

What these two men did was cowardly, criminal, violent and very despicable. I doubt very much that this is the first time they have ever stolen anything or done anything to people. It may however be the first time they were caught.

Let's not underplay what happened here. Thankfully once again the police and the public did an awesome job and caught the two creeps. Now hopefully the judicial system will pick up the ball and deal with these offenders very seriously in line with their behaviour.
