DAWSON CITY – The Great International Outhouse Race probably won’t be international again this year, what with COVID-19 restrictions, and it’s a day earlier than last year.
However, it will be taking off from Minto Park for a five kilometre run around Dawson’s perimeter at 1 p.m. Saturday.
As of Tuesday, only three teams had registered, but this tends to be a last-minute decision for many groups.
The Klondike Visitors Association (KVA) still has some rentable “outhouses” (bare frames to be decorated) available.
The seventh and final entry in last year’s race was assembled from cardboard just minutes before the race began.
For folks wondering what a classy outhouse ought to look like, the KVA has placed a sample on the main floor of the Visitors Information Centre for all to see.
