The Yukon’s COVID-19 outbreak lingers on.

The Yukon’s COVID-19 outbreak lingers on.

Late Monday afternoon, Dr. Brendan Hanley, the Yukon’s chief medical officer of health, reported nine new cases of COVID-19 dating from last Friday through to Monday.

The number of active cases is currently 44.

The total number of confirmed Yukon cases since March 22, 2020 is 633; there have been 571 cases since June 1.

Seven of the new cases are in Whitehorse, while two are in rural Yukon.

Hanley also issued a public exposure notification notice for the Kopper King Tavern in Whitehorse.

Anyone who visited there from 4:30 p.m. to closing time last Tuesday should monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.

That encompasses cold and flu symptoms, as well as seasonal allergy symptoms.

Immunizers continue to provide clinics in Yukon communities this week. Residents are asked to book an appointment online.

They will be providing both first and second dose Pfizer for youth born in 2009 and up to the age of 17 and first and second doses of Moderna for those 18 and over.

While appointments are recommended, walk-ins will be welcome.

Immunizers ask that if you have made an appointment and can’t attend to please let the health centre know so that vaccine is not wasted.

Testing continues to be a priority to enable health care responders to manage risk and outbreaks.

Anyone experiencing symptoms in Whitehorse should call the COVID-19 Testing and Assessment Centre at 393-3083 or book online to arrange for testing.

People in communities should contact their rural community health centre.

Testing turnaround times remain very quick, 24 hours in the previous week, and negative results can now be accessed online for faster access to results.

To: When Opportunity knocks: I could not have said it better myself. The Governments have milked covid for all it can get and it has turned into a detrimental event. Don't anyone get too used to getting your life back. The Liberals will slap us right back into lockdown if they get elected. Trudeau has paid most of the country to stay home. And they did. So, he used that to bring 401,000 imigrants into Canada to work. Now, people want to go back to work, but no jobs, even though our numbers were highest at 9.40%. All of our political scene is a mess right now. Two weeks? People need to prepare to be free? Just do it.

David Griffiths, we can be fairly certain that Dr. Hanley is not saying how many of the new infections are unvaccinated, because the truth would not support his "get-the-shot" agenda. In other similar jurisdictions with similar high inoculation rates 50% to 75% of the 'breakthrough' cases were "vaccinated".

Time to ditch the covid racket, doc. It's pretty much juiced. On behalf of taxpayers across Canada, thank you for offering to take a substantial pay cut to run!

I would ask for one small bit of additional information from Dr. Hanley in his daily updates. How many of the new infections are unvaccinated? Perhaps knowing this data may help convince more people to get the shot.

Looks like the Yukon's health department needs to talk with Iceland's top epidemiologist. Iceland having the highest rate of covid vaxxination in the world, is also experiencing a huge increase in 'cases' at this time.

Look up the August 3, 2021 article entitled "COVID-19 in Iceland: Vaccination Has Not Led to Herd Immunity, Says Chief Epidemiologist", at the Iceland Review.

From personal experience I know that test turnaround time was more than 3 days last week. Why can't the government provide "rapid testing"?
Private clinics will charge over a hundred dollars for this service.

Rural Yukon, 7 in Whitehorse and 2 in the rest of the Yukon. The land of no name communities outside the big apple. Is Dr. Hanley going for a career change, or greener pastures in the field of national medical politics? Keeping in mind that to be a politician requires no professional qualifications whatsoever.

They are not "immunizers". This is clearly misleading language. SARS-COV-2 vaccines do NOT grant immunity.

What we really need to know is the Cycle Threshold (CT) level used for these PCR tests for covid-19. Experts say anything over 29 CT will likely result in false positives. Does anyone know what CT level is used for the tests on Yukoners? Why is this the best kept secret? We need truth and transparency.
