Environment Canada is calling for at least 15 centimetres of snow locally by tomorrow morning, says meteorologist Lisa West.

The snow is expected to fall in the Whitehorse area and toward Haines Junction, West told the Star this morning.

There could be an additional five centimetres Friday evening if the current system provides a second burst, she said.

Environment Canada provides a snowfall warning anytime the forecast predicts 10 centimetres or more in a 12-hour period, West said.

“At the very least, 15 centimetres by tomorrow morning is what we are calling for,” she said.

There is the possibility of a another five centimetres heading into Friday evening.

Environment Canada’s forecast as of noon today was for snow tonight with an overnight low temperature of -8C.
