Name of man found dead is released

The identity of a man whose body was found Friday morning in Whitehorse has been released.

The identity of a man whose body was found Friday morning in Whitehorse has been released.

The Yukon Coroner’s Service was called to attend Rotary Peace Park shortly after 9 a.m. Friday after a passerby discovered the body near the parking area.

According to a coroner’s news release, the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Service investigated and was able to determine the death was not suspicious.

The deceased has been identified as 60 year-old Timothy Charlie.

His most recent address was in Whitehorse. He was originally from Old Crow.

An autopsy will be held at Vancouver General Hospital, and the coroner’s investigation continues with the assistance of Whitehorse RCMP.

The release did not specify when the autopsy will take place.

“Yukon Coroner’s Services extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Charlie,” the release said.
