An Anchorage man who was in a motorcycle crash in the Yukon last week is being taken off life support, according to his family.
On July 9, another motorist found a severely injured Leonard Marcus at Kilometre 250 of the Dempster Highway, the RCMP confirmed today.
He had apparently been in a single-vehicle crash on his 2004 Suzuki DL650 – a sport touring bike – while heading north toward Eagle Plains.
The 50-year-old Anchorage man was medevaced to Whitehorse General Hospital, where he was stabilized, his brother, Steve Marcus, told the Star this week, then airlifted to Harbor View Hospital in Seattle.
He did not emerge from his coma.
"Sadly, he suffered severe brain damage and will not be able to live a meaningful life and we will be taking him off life support tomorrow,” Steve Marcus wrote in an e-mail to the Star Monday.
Police do not believe there were any witnesses to the crash.
