Whitehorse artist Nicole Bauberger has created a new exhibition in the Free Space Gallery at Northern Front Studio in the Waterfront Station Building.

The gallery had been closed since March, but reopened Monday.

Bauberger has been working in a variety of materials, including clay and glass, since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Much of the work in the show has been created since March.

Bauberger has also been exploring three kinds of images in her work and the stories they can tell together.

Over the years, she has been well-known for her work with raven and dress imagery.

Monster imagery has joined the raven and dress recently. Bauberger wanted to give the monster imagery more of a chance to tell her what it wanted to talk about.

Materials are important in Bauberger’s expressions. She has written the name of the exhibition on the wall with clay from Marsh Lake that had spilled all over the back of her truck.

The stories that arise as she works with the material play a part in the artworks for her.

Bauberger has also drawn a monster directly onto the gallery wall using this mud.

“Monstrations” will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday until June 26.

There will be small guided tours with Bauberger. A maximum of five people are permitted in the gallery at one time, and hand sanitizer is available.

Bauberger’s “Dalton Trail Trail Gallery” remains on display parallel to Dalton Trail in the greenbelt in Hillcrest, just off the fire road to Granger.

She also continues creating the “Civil Twilight Performances” on Friday nights by Paddy’s Pond.
