On Sunday morning, Yukon Search and Rescue volunteers located a Ross River woman who had been missing since Friday.

Rose Caesar, 32, was medevaced to Whitehorse General Hospital for injuries related to cold exposure, Whitehorse RCMP said.

Ross River RCMP and community members first initiated ground and air searches on Friday, but weather conditions limited the air search.

Caesar was located in the Mint Creek area, 1.5 kilometres from her ATV, which she had abandoned.

The ATV was located on Saturday night.

“Finding the ATV was key in locating her,” RCMP Cpl. Cameron Long told the Star.

She had been last seen driving it on the Robert Campbell Highway, travelling toward Watson Lake.

The ATV was out of fuel when it was discovered, RCMP said.

“This was an extensive search over several kilometres in challenging conditions due to weather and the natural geography (vastness) of the area,” police said.

They could not comment on Caesar’s current health condition.

The search mobilized a significant amount of resources. Yukon Search and Rescue, RCMP detachments from Ross River, Faro, and Watson Lake, Yukon Police Dog Services and Watson Lake conservation officers were involved.

All in all, dozens of police officers, volunteers and community members, a dog and a helicopter were involved in the search.

Ross River residents also helped by providing food and housing to search volunteers, on top of the ground search.

“The Yukon RCMP sincerely appreciates the efforts by all volunteers, community members and the participating agencies,” Whitehorse RCMP said.

“Ms. Caesar being found alive can be directly attributed to the extraordinary efforts by all involved.”

@ Glad She was found, but...
In one of the media releases, it said she had a medical condition. Maybe her judgment is impaired for reasons beyond her control. Maybe before judging her, consider that there might be other factors. Not to mention how quickly the weather turned in Whitehorse--maybe they same happened to her? Who knows. She knows. Those who know her know. The rest of us can't assume.

I hope she will be okay, and hats off to the searchers who were able to find her. I'm sure there's a story behind this but based on what's been told so far, this was very irresponsible of this woman, and she's lucky to be alive.
