According to Whitehorse RCMP, a missing woman might actually be in the city.

The police are continuing their weeks-long investigation into the whereabouts of Catherine (Cathy) Gignac.

“It’s believed that Cathy may still be in Whitehorse and may be unaware that she is considered a missing person,” police said Wednesday.

“Family and friends report that it is out of character for Cathy to be out of contact for this long, and police simply want to connect with her in order to confirm her well-being.”

Gignac is a Caucasian woman with red hair and brown eyes. She is approximately five feet, five inches (1.65 metres) tall and weighs140 lbs. (63 kg.).

Her clothing description is unknown.

“This missing person investigation is not associated any other active missing person investigation that Whitehorse RCMP is currently investigating,” police indicated.

Anyone with information about Gignac’s whereabouts is encouraged to reach out to the RCMP at 667-5555 or contact Crimestoppers at 667-6715 or at http://www.crimestoppersyukon.ca
